According to the report, the name of this app is Barcode Scanner. As soon as the information about the virus is found in it, the app has been removed by the Google Play Store. The virus was identified by cybersecurity company Malwarebytes.
This makes users tell the victim that this app was present on Google Play for years. Till now it had installed more than 10 million (1 crore) users. According to the report, it used to show ads in the default browser of the smartphone after downloading. Many users said that a website would suddenly open in their browser, which suggested installing the Cleaner app on the phone.

The threat to these users is still
removed even though this app has been removed from Google Play, but the users who downloaded them still remain a threat. In such a situation, if you have ever downloaded this app, then uninstall it immediately from your phone. If you feel that the app is hidden somewhere in the phone and you cannot find it, then download AppChecker for it and search barcode scanner and delete it.
The security firm says the barcode scanner was initially a simple app, but it changed to dangerous after an update last year. This update was released on December 4, after which the app started sending adware to smartphones. It worked for users for years before the update. The developer of the app is LavaBird Ltd.
