Big news for those who put money in schemes like PPF-NSC-KVP in the post office, the rules for withdrawing money have changed. Post Office Small Savings: Department of Posts has given a big relief to those investing in small savings schemes in the post office.
The Postal department has changes Post Office Rules and directed the post office officials across the country that the presence of witnesses in the post office is not necessary to accept the claims of all the small savings schemes of the post office including PPF, NSC, KVP. For this, showing some documents will also work. The postal department has said that the identity card and address proof of the witnesses should be in the format decided by the KYC master circular.
According to the new circular, if the witness signed self-attested ID proof and address proof is attached to the claim document, the post office can not refuse to accept the claim.
The postal department has given this instruction to all post offices. The circular states that it was receiving complaints from the nominee / claimants to the Department of Posts that the post office officials are asking to bring 2 witnesses to the post office to accept the claims of the deceased persons for PPF or any other small savings scheme. Huh. In view of this, the postal department has given this instruction.
