The Postal department has changes Post Office Rules and directed the post office officials across the country that the presence of witnesses in the post office is not necessary to accept the claims of all the small savings schemes of the post office including PPF, NSC, KVP. For this, showing some documents will also work. The postal department has said that the identity card and address proof of the witnesses should be in the format decided by the KYC master circular.

According to the new circular, if the witness signed self-attested ID proof and address proof is attached to the claim document, the post office can not refuse to accept the claim.
