Draupadi Murmu: From being a teacher to bcoming India’s first tribal woman President

Draupadi Murmu has become the first woman tribal president of the country. He got a total of 64.03 percent votes, while his rival Yashwant Sinha got only 35.97 percent votes. Now she will take oath as President on July 25. Congratulating Draupadi Murmu on her victory in the elections, PM Narendra Modi wrote, “Draupadi Murmu has been an exceptional MLA and minister. She has had a wonderful stint as the Governor of Jharkhand. I am sure she will prove to be an excellent President, who Will lead from the front and strengthen India’s development journey.”

Apart from PM Narendra Modi, senior cabinet member and BJP chief JP Nadda reached Draupadi Murmu’s residence and congratulated her. 

Yashwant Sinha, the opposition candidate in the presidential election, congratulated Draupadi Murmu on her victory. Sinha said, “I heartily congratulate Draupadi Murmu on her victory in the Presidential election. I hope and indeed every Indian hope that as the 15th President of the country, without any fear and favour, she will serve as the custodian of the Constitution.” will act as

There is an atmosphere of celebration in the entire state including Rairangpur, the home town of Draupadi Murmu, the “daughter of Odisha” who emerged as the winner in the presidential race. People gathered outside Murmu’s residence in Rairangpur town of Mayurbhanj district and danced to tribal music. A similar view of the festival is also there in Paharpur village of the district, which is Murmu’s in-laws’ house. Draupadi Murmu has become the 15th President of India.

In the third round, votes were counted for Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha and Punjab. The total valid votes in this round are 1333, whose value is 1,65,664. Draupadi Murmu got 812 votes while Yashwant Sinha got 521 votes. Talking about the second round, the ballot paper of the first 10 states that appeared in alphabetical order was counted, in which a total of 1138 votes were cast, with a total value of 1,49,575. Out of these votes, Draupadi Murmu got 809 votes (value 1,05,299) while Yashwant Sinha got 3329 votes with a value of 44,276. 

After the first round, it was informed that the total number of valid votes of MPs was 748, out of which 540 votes were in support of Murmu while 204 votes were received by the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha. It is worth noting that the President of India is not only the head of the state but also the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces and the first citizen of the country. Draupadi is the second woman President of the country, before her Pratibha Patil has held the post of President of the country.
