ESI beneficiaries: If there is no ESIC hospital within a 10 km radius of the ESI (Employee State Insurance) health insurance scheme, the employee can go to the private hospitals empaneled by the Employees State Insurance Corporation. This information was given in the official statement. According to the statement of the Ministry of Labor, there has been a large increase in the number of ESI beneficiaries as a result of expanding the ESI scheme to new areas as well. In such a situation, continuous efforts are being made to expand and strengthen the infrastructure with the aim of providing medical facilities to ESI members in their own vicinity.

No need to get approval from ESIC Hospital or Dispensary

It states, “At present, ESI beneficiaries are facing difficulty in getting the medical facility in some areas due to the absence of ESI’s Hospital or Dispensary or Insured Medical Practitioner (IMP) within 10 km radius. In such areas, ESI beneficiaries are now provided with the option of availing health care facilities in empaneled hospitals of ESIC in the country. For this, the beneficiary will not need to get approval from any ESIC hospital or dispensary.

These documents will be necessary

According to the Ministry, ESI beneficiaries in such areas will have to visit the ESI empaneled hospital to receive OPD (outpatient department) services for free and get their ESI e-identity card/health passbook with Aadhaar card / issued by the government Identity card will have to be submitted. Such beneficiaries will have the facility to withdraw the payment made for the medicines prescribed by the doctor in the OPD. To get this facility, the beneficiary has to go to the dispensary and branch office or ESIC regional office.

According to the statement, if the beneficiary is required to be admitted to the hospital, then the empaneled hospital will have to obtain permission from the authorized officer of ESI through online mode within 24 hours to provide cashless health facilities to the beneficiary.
