ISI Mark Required on Helmets, If not, You will have to Pay a Fine of Rs 5 Lakh

ISI Mark: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has banned the production, import, and sale as well as storage of non-ISI helmets. Those who violate these laws can be punished and fined up to Rs 5 lakh. MORTH has implemented this rule from June 1. which has been implemented across the country. Let us tell you that this instruction was issued by MORTH in November 2018 and detailed rules for this were laid down in 2019. At the same time, after the implementation of this rule, all helmets sold in the country will now have to meet the BIS quality guidelines. Also, they should have ISI certification.

Provision of punishment to prevent this – In order to meet these standards for helmets, MORTH has put a provision of punishment under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act. In such a situation, those helmets which do not have the ISI sticker can face a fine or punishment of Rs 5 lakh. On the other hand, those who produce or sell or import non-ISI mark helmets, a fine of Rs 1 lakh and a sentence of one year’s imprisonment has been kept.

Foreign Helmet Company Will Have To Follow Rules

According to the rules of MORTH, the foreign company that sells helmets in India or manufactures them in the country under Make in India. All of them have to follow this rule. Let us tell you that the largest number of accidental deaths in the country are due to substandard helmets. Due to which MORTH is giving more emphasis to the quality of the helmet. At the same time, the ministry has also made helmets mandatory for both passengers on two-wheeler vehicles.

For example, British helmet manufacturer Triumph has completely stopped selling its helmets in the country. Because the helmets of this company were not as per Indian standard. Due to which the company stopped doing its business in India after the rules were made in 2018.
