No need to carry original documents to Passport Office, Use DigiLocker App to apply online from home

DigiLocker App: If you are tired of standing in lines to get a passport, then you should definitely read this news. The ‘Made in India’ app DigiLocker has eliminated the difficulty of carrying an original document to get a passport. Also, through this app, you can also apply to get a passport sitting at home. Union Minister V Muralitharan has announced that the app will save users from the hassle of having to carry original documents to apply for passports as now users will be able to produce a passport by showing a digital copy of it. This will also save people’s time. 

To make a passport, you still had to carry these documents.
 
Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Voter ID Card, PAN Verification Record, Branch License Issuance, Birth Certificate, Caste Certificate, Ration Card, Pension Certificate, Insurance Policy Proof Letters have to be taken.

How to create an account on DigiLocker and how to upload a document

>> Easy to sign up for DigiLocker. In this, you have to enter your full name according to your Aadhaar card, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email ID and Aadhaar number.

>> After this you will get one time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter it and you are logged into your DigiLocker account.

>> Now, you will be taken to the home screen of the app. From your driving license to your PAN card to your class XII marksheet, you will have the option to upload anything. When you tap on a particular document, you will be asked to enter information after which the app will fetch your document. For example, to upload your driving license, you have to enter your DL number.

How to upload documents on Passport Seva 
First of all, you need to ensure that all the required documents are uploaded to your DigiLocker account. Now, log into Passport Seva, fill in your information and access the part where you need to upload the document.

>> When you arrive at the self-declaration screen, you will see “Grant DigiLocker Access” in front of “Proof of Birth”, which you will need to click on. After clicking on this option, you will have to login to your DigiLocker account using your mobile number, user name or Aadhaar card.

>> Enter OTP and give consent to Passport Services to access your DigiLocker account.

>> Now you will see the “Get from DigiLocker” option instead of the “Grant DigiLocker Access” option. By clicking on this option, you will see that the documents have been uploaded successfully from DigiLocker. If the document is not available in your DigiLocker account, it will show that “The selected document does not exist in your DigiLocker account. The document could not be uploaded!”
