If you are a customer of the State Bank of India, then this is the news of work for you. State Bank of India (SBI) is offering free insurance up to Rs 2 lakh to its customers. Actually, the bank is giving this facility to the account holders of Jan Dhan Accounts. SBI offers free accidental insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh to customers who have RuPay debit cards. Those using RuPay Debit Card get death insurance, purchase protection cover, and other benefits. Jan Dhan Account account holders can avail of free insurance.
This scheme was started in 2014
Let us tell you that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was started in the year 2014. This scheme ensures access to financial services, banking savings and deposit accounts, credit, insurance, pension to the economically weaker sections in an affordable manner. Anyone can open a Jan Dhan account online by providing Know Your Customer (KYC) documents.
There is also an option to transfer Basic Savings Account to Jan Dhan Yojana Account. Those who have Jan Dhan Accouts, they get RuPay PMJDY card from the bank. The sum insured for RuPay PMJDY cards issued on Jan Dhan accounts opened up to 28 August 2018 will be Rs 1 lakh. Accidental cover benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh will be available on RuPay cards issued after August 28, 2018.
Know how to claim?
Let us tell you that the personal accident policy under this plan also covers the incident outside India. The claim will be paid in Indian Rupees as per the sum insured on submission of required documents. The beneficiary can become a nominee in the account of the cardholder or legal heir as per the order of the court.
These documents will be taken for claim
>> Sign your claim form and fill it completely.
>> Original or attested copy of Death Certificate.
>> Original or certified copy of FIR giving details of accident.
>> Post mortem report and chemical analysis as well as FSL report will be required. Original or attested copy of post mortem report along with chemical analysis/ FSL report wherever applicable.
>> Aadhar card copy and the name of the nominee on the cardholder.
>> Authorized signatory on behalf of the banks issuing the RuPay card and it should be written on the bank stamp paper that the cardholder had a RuPay card and the 16 digit number of the card will have to be written. All documents have to be submitted within 90 days. Name and bank details of the nominee, copy of the passbook of the nominee, copy of the accident FIR in Hindi and English, name and contact details of the bank officer and email id have to be given.
>> After providing all these documents, the claim will be settled in 10 working days. All these benefits will be given till 31 March 2022.
