ESIC has allowed all its members or beneficiaries to be treated in any private hospital in emergency. Under the existing system, the insured persons and beneficiaries who are under the purview of the ESIC scheme are required to go to the ESIC hospital and refer from there for treatment in the empaneled or out-of-the-box hospitals.

Online permission must be obtained within 24 hours

If a beneficiary is required to be admitted to the hospital, then the designated hospital must obtain permission from the authorized officer of ESI online to provide a cashless health care facility to the beneficiary within 24 hours. Guidelines issued by ESIC Headquarters in this regard are available on the website of the Employees State Insurance Corporation at www.esic.nic.in.
