The giant e-commerce platform Amazon is going to recruit people on a large scale. The company’s new CEO Andy Jassy told Reuters that the company plans to hire 55,000 people for corporate and technology roles globally in the coming months.

This figure is equivalent to more than a third of Google’s total workforce as of June 30 and is close to the number of Facebook. Jesse said that out of more than 55 thousand jobs, more than 40 thousand will be in the US, while the rest will be recruited through their job fair ‘Amazon Career Day’ in countries like India, Germany, and Japan.

In his first interview since becoming the company’s CEO in July, Jesse said the company needs more people to keep up with other businesses, including demand in retail, cloud, and advertising.
