The government has taken a big decision for unemployed people due to the Corona crisis. The government has notified the decision to increase relief under the Atal Insured Persons Welfare Scheme (Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana).

There is news of relief for unemployed workers during the Coronavirus Crisis. The central government has notified the decision to increase relief under the Atal Insured Persons Welfare Scheme (Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana) for industrial workers unemployed during the Corona crisis. With this, workers registered with Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will get a 50% unemployment benefit. This decision of the government will benefit more than 40 lakh workers.

According to data from the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), about 120 million people in the country have been directly or indirectly unemployed due to the coronavirus. Of these, the number of people working in the factory is around 19 million. In the month of July alone, 50 lakh people became unemployed. In such a situation, there is news of relief for the people who work in the factory because of Corona.

The government has made the rules flexible and has decided that 50 percent of the salary will be given as an unapplied employment benefit to industrial workers who lost jobs in the Corona crisis. This benefit will be given to those workers who lost their jobs between March 24 and December 31 this year. With this decision of the government, now those who lose jobs in the time of epidemic will get an unemployment allowance.

This facility will be provided to ESIC workers. They can claim 50 percent of the average salary for three months. Earlier this limit was 25%. Let us tell you that Atal Insured Person Welfare Scheme is a scheme operated by ESIC.

The scheme has been extended for one year from July 1, 2020 and will remain in effect till June 30, 2021. However, its original provisions will be restored from January 1, 2021. 41,94,176 workers will benefit from this scheme. 6710.68 crore will be a burden on ESIC. ESIC is an organization under the Ministry of Labor that provides insurance under the ESI Scheme to people receiving salary up to Rs 21,000.

Unemployed workers in the Corona crisis will have to go to an ESIC branch and apply. After verification, the amount will be directly transferred to their bank account. For this, the Aadhaar number of unemployed people working in the factory will be taken and they will be given 50 percent salary if they get the claim right.
