The reason for this is that all the station masters of the Indian Railways have gone on strike. Due to the apathy of the Railways, more than 35 thousand station masters across the country have given a notice to the Railway Board. It was made clear in the notice that they will go on strike on May 31. It remains to be seen what decision the government takes on this issue. In this, more than 2 lakh people of Uttar Pradesh will be affected.
Why is the station master Striking?
Dhananjay Chandratre, president of the All India Station Masters Association, says that the government is not listening. There is only one option left for this. At present, there is a shortage of more than 6,000 station masters across the country. Railway Administration is not recruiting for this post. Because of this, at present only two station masters are posted at more than half the stations in the country. Although the shift of station masters is of eight hours, due to a shortage of staff, they have to do shifts of 12 hours every day. On the day when a station master has a weekly off, the employee has to be called from another station on that day. More work is being done by station masters. Government should make new recruitment.

What is the demand of station masters?
Association President Dhananjay says that the list of demands of station masters has been sent to the CEO of the Railway Board. Filling up of all vacancies in railways soon. Restoration of Night Duty Allowance to all Railway employees without any ceiling. To provide the benefit of MACP in the cadre of Station Masters with effect from 01.01.2016 instead of 16.02.2018. Reorganization of cadres with revised designations. Providing security and stress allowance to station masters. An appeal has been made to the ministry and the government to fulfill these demands.
Case going on for years
Office-bearers of the Station Master’s Association say that this decision is not a sudden decision. This has been taken after a long struggle. There was a demand from the railway administration for a long time. The railway administration did not accede to their demands. In the first phase, AISMA officials protested by sending e-mails to Railway Board officials to get their demands convinced. In the second phase, station masters from all over the country protested by lighting candles at the station on the night duty shift on 15 October 2020. The third phase of protests lasted for a week from 20 October to 26 October 2020. During that time the station masters operated the trains by wearing black badges. In the fourth phase, all the station masters went on a one-day hunger strike on 31 October 2020. The fifth stage was performed in front of every divisional headquarter. In the sixth phase, a memorandum was handed over to the public representatives of all the parliamentary constituencies and the Railway Minister The memorandum was handed over to Mr. In the seventh phase, he met the Minister of State for Railways and apprised him of the problems. When there is no hearing till now, the notice to go on strike has been given.
