IPL 2021: Glenn Maxwell, who was badly flopped in the IPL 2020, played in the UAE, started the 14th season of the Indian Premier League in a bang. While playing for Punjab Kings last season, Maxwell’s bat did not get any six, but Maxwell’s mood changed as soon as he came into the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the match played against Mumbai Indians at the M Chidambaram Cricket Stadium, Maxwell played a crucial inning of 39 runs in 28 balls and contributed to the team’s victory. During this inning, Maxwell hit a 100-meter-long six and sent the ball out of the stadium. Captain Virat Kohli, standing at the other end, was left watching this shot of his partner batsman.

Chasing a target of 160 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore did not start well and the team lost the wickets of Washington Sundar (10) and Rajat Patidar (8) within 50 runs. After this Glenn Maxwell came to the crease and after playing the first few balls, he took the class of Mumbai bowlers fiercely. In the 10th over of the innings, Maxwell came out on the first ball of Krunal Pandya and hit a great six and sent the ball across the stadium. Virat Kohli, standing at the other end, just kept seeing this Six of Maxwell crossing the field.

Batting first after losing the toss, the Mumbai Indians scored 159 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs thanks to Chris Lynn’s innings of 49 runs. Mumbai did not have a good start and skipper Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion in an unfortunate runout. After this, Suryakumar Yadav and Chris Lynn shared a 70-run partnership for the second wicket. Kyle Jamieson broke the partnership by dismissing Suryakumar for a score of 31. After this, Mumbai lost wickets at frequent intervals and the team could only score 159 runs. In response, RCB’s team achieved the target of 160 runs due to a stormy innings of 48 runs in 27 balls from Glenn Maxwell (39) and AB de Villiers in the last over.
