New Year’s Gift of 5G: In the year 2022, Indians are going to get the gift of 5G. The Department of Telecommunications said that the testing of 5G Internet service has reached the final stage and it is expected to be completed by December 31, 2021. The department said that in 2022 this service will start in the country. First of all, 5G service will be started in 13 cities of the country. The department has also released the list of these 13 cities. 

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said in an official statement that telecom service providers including Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea have conducted 5G trials in Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhinagar. Site setup. 5G service will start first in these metros and big cities next year. According to the department, the testing project has cost Rs 224 crore. 

According to DoT, the 5G spectrum is likely to be auctioned in March-April 2022. In September itself, recommendations have been sought from TRAI regarding reserve price, band plan, block size, and spectrum quantum and the regulator has also started talks with all the stakeholder companies.

Partnership with 8 agencies

The Department of Telecommunications had partnered with 8 agencies for the 5G testing project started in 2018. Testing is to be completed by December 31, 2021. These agencies are IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Madras, IIT-Kanpur, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER), and Center for Excellence. In Wireless Technology (CEWIT).
