IRCTC New Rules: Railway has made new rules (Online Rail Tickets Booking Rule) for passengers who have not booked tickets for a long time. Such people will first have to verify their mobile number and email to buy tickets from the IRCTC portal.

There is important news for those taking online train tickets. Those buying tickets online from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will now have to do mobile and e-mail verification. Only after that, you will be able to take the ticket. This rule (Online Rail Ticket Booking Rule) is for those passengers who have not bought tickets for a long time. However, this process will take only 50 to 60 seconds.

IRCTC New Rules

Railways have made new rules for passengers who have not booked tickets for a long time due to corona infection. Such people will first have to verify their mobile number and email to buy tickets from the IRCTC portal. Only then will you get the ticket. However, passengers who have booked regular tickets will not have to go through this process.

Online Ticket Booking Service

IRCTC sells tickets online (e-Ticket) under the Indian Railways. Passengers create login and passwords on this portal for tickets. And then take advantage of online booking. To create a log-in password, you have to provide your email and phone number. That is, you can book tickets only after verifying your email and phone number.

The reason why these rules are made

Trains have started running on the track as soon as the corona havoc subsides. In such a situation, ticket sales have also increased. At present, about eight lakh train tickets are being booked in 24 hours. Senior officials of IRCTC’s Delhi headquarters said that the process of mobile number and email verification has been started to ensure that the first and second wave of corona infection and the accounts which were inactive on the portal before that.

How is the verification done?

When you log in to the IRCTC portal, the verification window opens. Enter the already registered email and mobile number on it. Now there is an option of edit on the left side and verification on the right side. You can change your number or email by selecting the edit option. On selecting the option of verification, an OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your number. Your mobile number gets verified by entering the OTP. Similarly, verification will have to be done for email as well. It is verified through the OTP received in the email.
