IND vs ENG Test: Team India defeated England by 10 wickets in the third Test match played between India and England at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was the second time the Indian team won the Test match within just two days. The English batsmen looked helpless in front of the superb bowling of Akshar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin and the entire team was all out for just 81 runs in the second innings. Team India achieved the target of 49 runs for victory in just 7.4 overs without losing any wickets. With this victory, India has taken a 2–1 lead in the four-Test series. Let’s have a look at 10 big records made in this match.

1. The lowest ball thrown in a Test match after 1935

In the third Test match played between IND vs ENG, only 842 balls were bowled, which was also the lowest number of balls bowled in a Test since 1935. In the year 1935, only 672 balls were thrown in the match played between West Indies and England. Overall it was the seventh shortest match in the history of Test cricket. It was the shortest Test match in India, with 968 balls being bowled in the first Kolkata Pink Ball Test. 

2. Test match ends in two days for 22nd

This was the 22nd time in the history of Test cricket when the result of a Test match came out in just two days. India won a Test match for the second time within two days. Earlier in the year 2018, the team won against Afghanistan, the result of that match also came in two days. 

3. Only 387 runs scored in the entire test match

The day-night Test match played between IND vs ENG totaled 387 runs, including four innings, which was also the fifth-lowest score on Indian soil. England was all out at 112 and India 145 in the first inning. England scored just 81 runs in the second innings, while Team India scored 49 runs in the second inning. 

4. Kohli left Dhoni behind

Virat Kohli became the captain of most Test wins on Indian soil with a win in the day-night Test match. It was Kohli’s 22nd win in the 29th Test match. Virat broke Dhoni’s record of 21 wins. Team India, led by Dhoni, had won 21 out of 30 matches. 

5. Akshar Patel throws most successful day-night test

Akshar Patel bowled with the pink ball in the day-night test match and threw the most spectacular spell ever. Akshar became the first bowler to take 10 wickets in a match with a pink ball. The spin bowler, playing on his home ground, took six wickets in the first innings and five wickets in the second.

6. Akshar Patel became the highest wicket taker in day-night test

Akshar Patel has become the highest wicket-taker in a day-night Test match. He took 11 wickets in the first day-night match of his career. Akshar left behind Pat Cummins, who has 10 wickets. Akshar was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb rendezvous. 

7. England’s minimum score against India

England posted an embarrassing record to their name, being all out for 81 runs in the second innings. This was England’s lowest ever score against India. Earlier, in 1971, England were all out for 101 runs against India. 

8. Ashwin completes 400 Test wickets

Ravichandran Ashwin completed his 400 wickets in Test cricket with the dismissal of Jofra Archer in the second innings. Ashwin became the fourth bowler to do so for India. Before Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev have reached this stage. 

9. Ben Stokes became Ashwin’s 11th time victim

In the second innings of the Test match, Ravichandran Ashwin showed the way to the pavilion by dismissing Ben Stokes LBW on a score of 25 runs. Ashwin hunted Stokes for the 11th time in Test cricket. Stokes has become the most dismissed batsman on his ball in Ashwin’s career. The name of David Warner is included in this list after Stokes. 

10. Ishant hits first six of international career

Ishant Sharma, playing his 100th Test match, could not do anything special with the ball, but he was seen putting some good shots with the bat. Ishant hit his first six of his international career during his unbeaten innings of 10 runs in the first inning. This six by Ishant was also the first six of the day-night test.
